WATER DAMAGE &
DELAMINATION

From early moisture ingress to full delamination, LBM Fibreglass assesses and repairs water damaged caravans across Brisbane and South-East Queensland.

Water Is the Enemy of Fibreglass Caravans

Water damage is the single biggest threat to the long term condition of a fibreglass caravan. It gets in through cracks, damaged seals, failed joins and impact points, and once it's in, it spreads silently through the wall and roof cavities, saturating insulation, rotting substrates and causing the fibreglass skins to delaminate from the structure behind them.

The problem with water damage is that by the time it's obvious on the inside, it's usually been building for a while on the outside. At LBM Fibreglass we assess and repair water damage and delamination in fibreglass caravans, addressing both the source of the ingress and the damage it's caused.

Our Approach to Water Damage & Delamination

Water damage repairs require a methodical approach. Before any repair work begins, we need to identify and address the source of the water ingress, otherwise the same problem will return. We inspect the van thoroughly, tracing the damage back to its entry point and assessing the full extent of what's been affected.

Once we have a clear picture, we remove all moisture-affected material, allow the structure to dry properly, and rebuild and laminate back to the correct specification. The entry point is then properly sealed to prevent recurrence.

Our Repair Process

01
Assessment

We inspect the full extent of the water damage, identify the source of ingress, and provide a clear quote before work begins.

02
Source & Sealing

The entry point is identified and properly sealed before repair work begins to ensure the problem cannot return.

03
Removal & Drying

All moisture-affected material is removed and the structure is allowed to dry thoroughly before rebuilding begins.

04
Rebuild & Lamination

Affected panels and substrates are rebuilt and laminated back to the correct specification using appropriate materials.

05
Surface Finish

The outer surface is restored with gelcoat, cured, sanded and finished to a clean weatherproof result.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my caravan has water damage?
Common signs include soft spots in the walls or roof, a hollow sound when tapping panels, discolouration or staining on interior linings, bubbling or separation of exterior panels, and a musty or damp smell inside the van. If you notice any of these, get it assessed promptly, as water damage spreads over time.
Can delaminated panels be repaired or do they need full replacement?
In many cases delaminated sections can be properly repaired by removing the affected area, drying the structure, and rebuilding and laminating back to specification. Where delamination has spread extensively or the substrate is significantly compromised, more involved work may be required. We'll assess it and give you a clear recommendation.
How important is it to fix the source of the leak before repairing the damage?
Critical. Repairing delamination without addressing the source of the water ingress means the same problem will return. We always identify and seal the entry point before carrying out any repair work.
How long does water damage repair take?
Timeframes vary significantly depending on the extent of the damage and the drying time required. We'll give you a clear indication before we start.
Can you handle insurance claims?
Yes, we work directly with insurers and can provide detailed damage reports, photo documentation and accurate repair quotations to support your claim.
