The transom is one of the most structurally critical parts of any fibreglass boat. It bears the full weight and thrust of the outboard motor, absorbs constant vibration, and cops the brunt of wave impact every time you're out on the water. Over time, that stress takes its toll.

Transom damage is more common than most boat owners realise, and it's one of those things that gets worse the longer it's left. A soft transom, stress cracks around the motor mounting, or water ingress into the core can all compromise the structural integrity of the entire rear of the vessel.

At LBM Fibreglass we assess and repair all types of transom damage, from surface cracking through to full transom rebuilds, getting your boat back to a safe, structurally sound condition.

Transom damage is often more extensive than it looks from the outside. What appears as surface cracking can indicate a saturated or deteriorating core underneath. We don't just fix what's visible, we assess the full condition of the transom before quoting so you get a clear picture of what's actually going on.

Where the core is compromised, a proper repair means removing the affected material, replacing and laminating the structural layers correctly, and restoring the outer gelcoat to a clean finish. Patching over the top of a soft transom isn't a repair, it just delays the inevitable.
