Your hull takes more punishment than any other part of your boat. Ramp launches, trailer pressure, dock scrapes, reef contact, it adds up. And fibreglass, as tough as it is, isn't bulletproof. Once the gelcoat gets breached, water starts working its way into the laminate layers underneath. From there it's a slow burn, osmosis, blistering, delamination, and what could've been a straightforward repair becomes a much bigger job.

We fix fibreglass hull damage at our Brisbane workshop, from minor gelcoat chips to full structural repairs. Every job gets a proper assessment, an up front quote, and a finish that's polished to a seamless result.

A small crack might not look like much, but once the gelcoat is breached, water gets straight into the laminate underneath. Osmotic blistering is a separate, slower issue: gelcoat is semi-permeable, so on a boat that spends long stretches in the water, moisture gradually works its way through even an intact surface, reacts with compounds in the laminate, builds osmotic pressure, and forms blisters. Warm water and prolonged immersion are what really accelerate it.

The good news is that caught early, hull repairs are straightforward and relatively affordable. Left too long, you're looking at full hull restoration work, barrier coat application, and serious remediation work. Getting on top of it early just makes sense.
