Built to Your Spec

Sometimes off the shelf isn't good enough. Whether you're looking to modify an existing vessel, add custom fibreglass components, or have something built from scratch, LBM Fibreglass has the skills and experience to get it done properly.

Fibreglass is one of the most versatile materials in marine fabrication. It can be shaped, laminated and finished to almost any form, making it ideal for custom work where standard parts simply don't exist or don't fit. From bow modifications and custom hatches through to purpose-built components and structural additions, we work with boat owners to understand exactly what they need and deliver it to a high standard.

Our Approach to Custom Work

Custom fibreglass work starts with a clear brief. We take the time to understand what you're trying to achieve, the functional requirements of the piece, and how it needs to integrate with the existing vessel. From there we work through the design and fabrication process methodically, keeping you informed at each stage.

Every custom job is different, and we treat it that way. Whether it's a straightforward modification or a more complex fabrication, we apply the same level of care and attention to the finish as we do to the structural work. The goal is always a result that looks like it was always meant to be there.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you fabricate a one-off fibreglass component?
Yes, we handle one-off fabrication work including custom components, modifications and purpose-built parts where standard options don't exist or don't fit.
Do you work from drawings or can you design from a brief?
Both. If you have drawings or measurements we can work from those. If you have an idea but no formal design, we can work through the brief with you and plan the fabrication from there.
Can you match the existing finish on my boat?
Yes, we finish custom work in gelcoat and work to integrate the new piece with the existing vessel's finish as closely as possible.
How long does custom fabrication take?
Timeframes vary depending on the complexity and scope of the work. We'll give you a clear indication during the consultation stage before any work begins.
Do you handle modifications for insurance purposes?
If you're looking to have modifications documented or need repair work that involves custom fabrication as part of an insurance claim, we can work with your insurer directly.

Note: If your project involves modifications to an insured boat or caravan, it's worth declaring the work to your insurer once complete. Undeclared modifications can affect your entire insurance claim, not just the modified part, so keeping your insurer up to date helps avoid issues down the track.
